The IFPAA Challenger
Division sports league is entering into its 17th year
providing sports activities to special needs Teens and Young Adults.
Originating in 1992 with approximately 80 to100 families, our league has
retained many of its earliest members. They have helped us grow and we
have had the pleasure of seeing our athletes mature into successful
active young adults. Parents with creative ideas and high expectations
have encouraged our athletes to develop their skills and accomplish
successful growth in sports such as basketball, deck hockey and
baseball. Utilizing the expertise of talented parents these sports have
been modified to ensure safety while promoting fun, success, excitement,
camaraderie, skill building and improved self esteem. As we move into fall 2009,
Challenger Sports is beginning its 2nd year of Fall Baseball located
at Blueberry Hill Park. Due to popular demand, fall ball replaced our hockey
program that ran for many years. In January 2010, our Basketball Program will
continue at Marshall Middle School. Spring Baseball, played also at Blueberry
Hill Park, begins the last Sunday of April and runs through the end of June. Challenger Sports programs are
held on Sunday afternoons 2:00pm to 4:00pm and run for 10 week sessions with the
exception of the fall ball program that will be on Sundays but will run for 8
weeks from 12:00pm to 1:30pm. IFPAA Challenger Division
partnered with Reserve Township many years ago to better serve a greater number
of younger athletes. This has allowed our Challenger league to focus on the
teens and young adults of our communities. When Reserve Challenger athletes
reach an appropriate age and skill set, they are encouraged to join the IFPAA
Challenger program. This arrangement has been very successful and has enabled
us to provide fun and successful sporting experiences to many special athletes.
