Planning for this coming season is well underway and we are in need of fresh faces to bring some of these plans to fruition. Below is a list of often overlooked volunteer positions along with a short description of some of the tasks/responsibilities. We hope you will seriously consider moving into an active role with the IFPAA baseball/softball community in some way. Please note that role sharing may be possible if you're interested in a role, but you may have some constraints that make it unrealistic for you to assume 100% responsibility for it. If uncertain, please ask us how you can participate in a way that meets both your needs and those of the IFPAA community.
Night at the Races Committee
Held each spring, this is a major source of revenue for the league, many volunteers performing various duties are behind the success of the Night at the Races. The success of this event is primarily due to the efforts of many. Consider opportunities as chair/co-chair of sub-committees or help at the event. Activities include coordinate and run the Silent Auction, ticket sales, secure door prizes, gather supplies, set-up the event, serve food and beverages, and clean-up. A great way to meet people and get involved with IFPAA.
Playground Fundraiser
Are you interested in seeing a playground installed at the Vestal Complex? If so, we are exploring the idea of such a project by forming a committee to explore feasibility, select design and secure funds for this endeavor.
Billboards
A number of volunteers are needed to sell billboards, coordinate sales efforts, and oversee installation and takedown of billboards at IFPAA fields. Volunteers are also needed to provide necessary labor to install/take down billboards before and after baseball/softball seasons.
Franklin Park/McCandless Community Festivals
This is a unique way to get involved helping increase awareness about and promote IFPAA at Franklin Park’s Festival in the Park and/or McCandless Days. Volunteer labor is needed to help with set-up prior Franklin Park’s festival. In addition, volunteers are needed to work various shifts during the events. A simple, fun way to get involved & meet your neighbors – all with a short-time commitment prior to and/or during these special events. Festival in the Park is typically the last weekend in June and McCandless Days is in September.
Computer
An ideal volunteer role for those parents wanting to work from home on a project basis – projects include data entry of registrations, special mailings, data base updates, etc.
Candy
Volunteer roles include coordination of candy bar sales. Arrange delivery of candy to participating families, etc.
Snack Shack Administration
Administrators and Manager Helpers are always needed in our Snack Shacks at Vestal and Blueberry. Duties include ordering supplies, stocking, cash deposits, maintaining teen substitute worker list, training of workers, etc. Requires commitment and for on-going duties and responsibilities during regular and tournament seasons.
Snack Shack League Coordinators
All leagues playing at Blueberry & Vestal fields are required to name a coordinator to work with Snack Shack Administration to ensure smooth operations of snack shack and appropriate operating hours. League coordinator will assist with opening snack shack at the beginning of the season, as well as communicate with appropriate league coaches and parents regarding staffing, operations, and clean-up responsibilities.
